After starting quarterback Carlyle Holiday (‘04) left the game with a shoulder injury in the third quarter, Notre Dame’s 2002 trip to East Lansing looked sure to end in defeat. But the Fighting Irish found some late game magic, as Arnaz Battle (‘03) caught a short pass from Pat Dillingham (’05) and raced 60 yards to the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown with under two minutes to play.
