This Day in History: Irish Hook the Horns
In 1996, Autry Denson (’99) scored a six-yard touchdown on 4th-and-goal, helping the Irish tie the Texas Longhorns in the fourth quarter. After the Notre Dame defense got the ball back, Jim Sanson (’00) kicked a 39-yard field goal as time expired, propelling the Irish to a 27-24 victory.
